Hi, Eli. This is much easier to understand than Google Console directions. Curious, I copied the verification text as instructed but I don't see, in Subtack settings, "Google Site Verification." I see Google Analytics Measurement and Google Tax Manager. What am I not seeing or comprehending? Thank you for your article and any help!

Looks like "Google Site Verification" in the Settings is not available anymore. Only Google Analytics Measurement ID
I was also going to mention this. I just tried it, and there's no "Google Site Verification."
